What The Applications Of Tungsten Carbide?

The theoretical carbon content of tungsten carbide is 6.128% (atom 50%). When the carbon content of tungsten carbide is greater than the theoretical carbon content, free carbon (WC + C) appears in the tungsten carbide. The existence of free carbon makes the tungsten carbide grains grow up around the tungsten carbide during sintering, resulting in the uneven grain size of the cemented carbide. Generally, the tungsten carbide requires high combined carbon (≥ 6.07%) free carbon (≤ 0.05%), and the total carbon is determined by the cemented carbide Production process and application scope.


1. It is widely used for high-speed cutting tools, kiln structural materials, jet engine parts, cermet materials, resistance heating elements, etc.

2. It is used for manufacturing cutting tools, wear-resistant parts, crucible for copper, cobalt, bismuth and other metals, and wear-resistant semiconductor films.

3. Used as super hard tool material and wear-resistant material. It can form solid solution with many carbides. WC tic co cemented carbide tools have been widely used. It can also be used as a modification additive for nbc-c and tac-c ternary system carbides. It can not only reduce the sintering temperature, but also maintain excellent properties. It can be used as aerospace materials.

4. Tungsten carbide (WC) powder was synthesized by tungsten anhydride and graphite in reducing atmosphere at 1400 ~ 1600 ℃. Dense ceramic products can be prepared by hot pressing sintering or hot isostatic pressing sintering.
